Over 100 Young Women To Undergo National Pre-Tech Program

Over 100 young women will undergo training, under the National Pre-Tech Program, being organized by Soronko Academy in collaboration with Ghana Tech Lab (GTL).

The program will be run with five other hubs across the country from 22nd June to 3rd July 2020.

The initiative is aimed at bridging the knowledge gap by giving them basic tech skills which will prepare them for more advanced skills.

In a statement released to the Digital Times Africa, it said that the “curriculum is designed to train women in fundamental tech skills as a basis for an Advanced Technical Course in full stack web development”.

The statement added that “We structured the curriculum to introduce fundamental concepts that will be taught in the advanced full stack web development course”.

According to the statement, the training program would serve two objectives; to introduce women to courses in web development in preparation for a more advanced course and to help women understand opportunities, career paths in web development and how to create functional websites.

Young women will have access to soft skills training on leadership and entrepreneurship and meet mentors, other women in tech as well.

Participants who complete the Pre Tech Program, will also have the opportunity to apply for the Ghana Tech Lab Base program to learn more on Full Stack Web Development and have an opportunity to be part of an internship program or startup incubation

The Program will run 5 times a week, Monday to Friday for two weeks from 9am to 2pm and will be held at the various hubs. Applicants who complete the program will be awarded certificates.
