Instagram, a social media app has been blocking users from performing certain actions such as leaving comments, liking photos, and following accounts.

The reason for these restrictions by the app is to identify and regulate the use of bots and reduce spam.

The App is blocking users for hours, days, and in extreme cases weeks. Though there are ways to go around the situation, users are not happy about the turn of events.

In the event that, Instagram detects particular actions coming from a single account, including spam activities, it temporarily blocks it and displays an error message “ Action Blocked”

Users who are fond of liking many pictures in a short span of time are likely to get the notification. Instagram considers this action as spamming activities as it is against their policy.

Instagram also blocks users when they are doing repetitive actions to create engagement. If you follow 50+ profiles and unfollow them regularly and place repetitive comments, they will block users from actions.

The app also blocks users if they use third-party apps to get likes on pictures and followers. It also blocks the users’ actions if they use those apps to auto-follow and auto-unfollow.

To prevent being blocked by Instagram, users should avoid the practices above as the app would flag down your account for spamming activities.

However if you find yourself in this situation, you can uninstall all third-parties that help you get followers and likes.

Users could also switch to mobile data as Instagram is blocking IP addresses and not the account. By switching from WiFi to mobile data the issue is fixed quickly.

Another simple solution is to link Instagram to another social media channel like, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. This will help the app establish the account as a real person and not a spamming bot.

The company claims they are trying to avoid users taking advantage of their platform by liking and following others to create engagements just like a bot would do.

As marketing on the app has been hard in recent times due to the many changes happening with Facebook and Instagram, users are trying various means to get noticed.

The best option for users would be to log out of their Instagram accounts for at least 3–4 weeks and log back in to hope for it to go away for good.
