New feature to Add User Contacts On WhatsApp Undergoes Testing
Whatsapp, an instant messaging application, in its latest beta version is testing a feature which would allow users add contacts through scanning QR codes.
Beta testers on IOS and Android will be able to see small QR codes in the apps settings menu which can be used by another user to add them. The QR code can be reset by a user multiple times and be revoked if you do not want someone to have your number.
The feature takes away the tedious task of having to manually add new contacts. The
QR code also allows you to add a contact when you are with them in person, but is not useful when you are using WhatsApp web.
The QR code is the trademark for a type of two-dimensional barcode first designed in 1994 in Japan for the automotive industry.
A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that contains information about the item to which it is attached.
The beta version is a trial version of the actual Whatsapp version that lets you enjoy the latest additions to the messaging service before the final release to the google app.
This additional feature is more useful because it can store and digitally present much more data, geo coordinates and text.
It also provides easy access to information through a smartphone. The owner can edit the code at any time and can target a specific individual for personalized marketing
