NBSSI Partners Ghana Tech Lab To Support Ghana’s Youth With Digital Job Creation

The National Board of Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) has partnered with Ghana Tech Lab. The partnership was sealed with an MOU, which is aimed at accelerating the growth of Ghanaian-owned micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs).

Speaking to the www.digitaltimes.Africa, Mr. Kwabena Owusu, Ecosystem Lead, Ghana Tech Lab stated that ‘‘the MOU will enable GTL to assist the MSMEs to scale up digitally in view of promoting their businesses online to reach a wider audience’’.

He added that this would create an avenue for businesses to position themselves to be visible as brands digitally.

According to him, the partnership will tap into our talent pipeline in terms of our internship pool, we would help the NBSSI beneficiaries so that we can work with them to align their businesses, he explained.

He elaborated that “startups aligned to GTL will also benefit from acceleration projects under the NBSSI project such as the Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship and MSME Business Acceleration”.

The Executive Director of NBSSI, Mrs. Kosi Yankey-Ayeh noted that the partnership was to ensure the building of long-term businesses for sustainability.

She explained that the programme seeks to enhance the capacity of MSMEs in the three areas of focus; Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship, Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship and MSMEs Business Acceleration.

She added that the focal point of Mastercard Foundation involving partners was to ensure capacity building and scale-up towards the future.

NBSSI Mastercard Foundation Young Africa Works Initiative is to enable the respective organizations to bring their expertise to bear in improving the business and entrepreneurial skills of the women and the youth in the MSMEs sector.

The initiative aims to create 39,000 jobs within two years through effective collaboration with partners across the country.
