Fondo Tech, a company that connects startups to investors is a product of the National Summit Investors Summit. The program is an annual program hosted by Ghana Tech Lab, an organization which focuses on investing technologically in the youth.

Fondo Tech is founded by two young creative women, Adjoa Kakra Kuwornu and Diana Adikie Ayitevie. The young women are graduates of Central University and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, have a degree in Pharmacy and Procurement and Supply Chain Management respectively.

The duo met during the AI training hosted by Ghana Tech Lab, and made it through the incubation period, which was geared towards the acceleration program.

At the end of the six week program they came third out of numerous startups that participated in the program..

In an interview with Digitaltimes.africa they stated that Fondo Tech is a platform that focuses on Series A startups. These startups are young entrepreneurs who have concrete knowledge about their businesses, have lasting solutions for their businesses and know their target audience, yet need investors.

According to Fondo Tech founders, they realized during the training that most entrepreneurs struggle a lot before getting prospective investors.

Based on this they decided to set up the company in October 2019 to aid entrepreneurs to fill the gap of looking for investors on a platform.

As part of their initiative they developed the Fondo App, which is aimed at providing mentorship, resources and other educational options. This would serve as a bridge between the startups and mentors/investors.

The young creatives also stated that their web app will have its alpha testing at the end of this month but would have the final release in December.

According to them, the Fondo App will be launched on Play Store and will be accessible to all. They explained that an AI model would be incorporated into the app for profitability in some years to come.

They also told Digital Times that they aim to be globally recognized and also to be featured by international media like CNN, where they can share their story to the world.

On the issue of women entrepreneurs, they indicated that their findings revealed that though there are several women entrepreneurs, yet they lack the skill but also did not have access to finance to run their businesses successfully.

The platform is also designed to focus on ladies in entrepreneurship and to adequately equip them to start their own enterprises. This they designed as a result of the challenges they have faced as women entrepreneurs.

They encouraged women to be determined, focused and assertive and urged women to be their own bosses rather than living off a single stream income.

Co-founder, Ms. Kuwornu said “ most people do not have faith in women hence do not focus on them a lot so as part of our goals we want to create opportunities for women to also stand out as entrepreneurs”.

They revealed that in a quest to support female enterprise, they would offer pro bono deals to female entrepreneurs.

During their journey, they indicated that they have received tremendous help from Ivy Barley, CEO of Developers in Vogue, Mr kwame Ofori and Mr Nelson Amo from InnoHub, Mr Norbert Dziwornu the CEO of startup Accra and their host Ghana Tech Lab.
