Ghanaian celebrities are using TikTok as the new form of entertaining their fans and as a respite from boredom during the COVID-19 restrictions.

The likes of Lydia Forson, Jackie Appiah, Sandra Ankobiah, Shatta Wale among others have joined the platform. They are doing what they do best, which is to entertain.

They display acts spanning from short skits to lip-syncing to dance tutorials and basic lifestyle hacks.

Since it is an undisputed fact that COVID-19 has brought human activity to a standstill, most people are forced to live online. By doing this entertainment lovers are seeing a different side of their favorite celebs.

The TikTok app, which is owned by a Chinese internet company called ByteDance is a short-form video app. It has become one of the most popular social platforms among teens and even adults in recent times.

TikTok was launched in September 2016 and has more than 1.5 billion all-time downloads.

In its three years of operation, it is safe to say that it has exploded in popularity and has over 800 million users with almost half the population being celebrities.
