Ghana Tech Lab Opens Applications for Web Development Program

Ghana Tech Lab, an Information Communication Technology company has opened applications for the Web Development Program across the country.

Applications are open from 15 June to 3 July. It is being held in collaboration with partner hubs across the country and funded by the Mastercard Foundation.

The program which would be held with partner hubs across the country, is focused on providing young people between the ages of 18–35 with competent skills in Web Technology and experiences that are relevant to starting their own businesses or securing a job.

The third cohort of web development is an initiative of the Base Innovation Program organized by the company.

In a statement released to the Digital Times, it stated that the program is focused on creating a larger pipeline of startups ready for acceleration, growth and job creation at scale.

According to the statement, “the training program would also expose students to modules such as: Full stack Web Development course, Advance UX/UI Course, Advance Backend course, Introduction to Mobile App Development with React Native etc”.

Ghana Tech Lab has been utilizing a distributed network of hubs across Ghana. Its Base Innovative Program as an integrated entrepreneurship support is delivered through identification of market driven skills gap, curriculum development and skills building, the statement said.

It added that it is followed by linking employment opportunities within their communities or incubation with a view of building a pipeline of investment ready firms.

In March 2019, First Cohort started through a multi-stakeholder consultation and engagement.

A competent Mobile Application development skills was identified and selected as a critical skill with high market demand.

This led to the first National Mobile App development skills training curriculum, which was conducted with 10 partner hubs across the country.

3000 applications were received in 2 weeks of opening the call for applications with 405 being women.
