Ghana Tech Lab Holds Makers Assemble Bootcamp

Makers Assemble Bootcamp, a bootcamp to equip young innovators to create personal Protective Equipment has been held in Accra by Ghana Tech Lab.

According to Richard Holdbrook, a facilitator of the event, the program was aimed at equipping young makers to assemble critical PPEs in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Holdbrook indicated that the innovations developed would be distributed to relevant stakeholders such as hospitals and communities on a need assessment basis.

He added that, ‘‘The one-week program bootcamp is a build up towards a 5-week building phase production phase during which participants will make the various PPEs. At the end of the bootcamp, groups were formed with the following innovations, prototypes, and details’’.

As part of the second phase of the program, the participants have been split into six groups to produce ventilators, hand washing machines, face shields and nose straps, respirators and thermometer guns.
