The Startup Network, a subsidiary of the African Network of Entrepreneurs (TANOE) has launched the third edition of its flagship initiative which is happening on October 1, 2021.

Called the Ghana Startup Awards, the initiative seeks to celebrate and honor ambitious and indigenous Ghanaian startup businesses that are making an impact, contributing to economic growth, meeting social needs, and putting Ghana on the global economic map.

The Awards will honor young, smart, tactical, adaptable, non-conformist, organized, and energetic startups passionately building and growing globally competitive businesses in 28 different categories and various sectors.

It will also honor startups who have taken the risk to pursue entrepreneurship as a full-time career.

“In its 3rd edition, the Ghana Startup Awards continue to live up to its mission of celebrating ambitious and indigenous Ghanaian startup businesses that are making an impact, contributing to economic growth, creating jobs, and putting Ghana on the global economic map every day.”

“This edition promises to be an all-inclusive initiative that ensures the active involvement of all stakeholders in the Entrepreneurship, Startup, and Private Sector development Ecosystem” GSA Board Chairman, Ekow Mensah stated.

He added “the world is in one of the most challenging times ever as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic and Ghana, like many nations, has not been spared. Businesses are facing fierce turbulence and startups, who are originally very fragile have become even more fragile with the highest risk of collapse now more than ever. The private sector is the backbone of all thriving economies and startups are the seeds that germinate into those SMEs that help solve unemployment and grow the economy, when startups suffer, SMEs suffer and economies follow suit.”

“In light of this, it is imperative to ensure that startups are given the necessary support and recognition to serve as a motivation to enable them to thrive in the face of daunting challenges and to encourage others to take the bull by the horns and also startup their businesses regardless; hence the need to organize the Ghana Startup Awards,” he finished.

Accompanying the Ghana Startup Awards is the Ghana Startup Club 100, an exclusive list of the most outstanding and well-performing startups selected from all Business and Tech Hubs in Ghana. This will be the 2nd Cohort whose survival and growth will be monitored within the awards year and provided needed support to scale up and adequately compete in all sectors.

TANOE is running the event in collaboration with Ghana Tech Lab, Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works, the Ghana Hubs Network, Relevant Government Agencies, Media, and other partners such as EMC and IConceptsPR.
