Applications For The Second Edition Of Miss Geek Ghana Open

Call for applications for the second edition Miss Geek Ghana Competition has been opened by the Ministry of Communications.

The competition is open to only Ghanaian ladies between the ages of 13 and 21 years, in line with the Regional competition policy.

The initiative is being hosted to encourage Ghanaian girls to take up Science, Math, Engineering and Technology inclined careers to enable them impact the world.

The application is open from now to Friday 12th June, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.

Participants are to submit apps that solve problems through technological innovations.

The best 10 concepts will be selected to participate in the finals. The 10 finalists will go through a weeklong training, followed by two rounds of presentation which will determine the top three.

The winner receives prizes which include a cash prize, IT devices and a trip to an international technology conference. The two runner-up competitors also receive cash prizes and business training.

Miss Geek Africa is an entrepreneurship competition that originated as Miss Geek Rwanda in 2014 but was renamed Miss Geek Africa in 2017 and has expanded to 22 countries in Africa.

Last year, the winner of the Miss Geek Africa 2019 competition designed a mobile platform that can enable expectant mothers to monitor their health during pregnancy.

The platform is connected to a smart bracelet, which checks the woman’s vital signs and sends them to an emergency service provider in real time.

The dates for the final events will be announced later.
